The AHC, a branch under the state’ds housing finance agency, aims to bolster home-ownership for low- and moderate-incomed households. The agency approved a $500,000 grant to Cheektowaga’s Community and Economicv DevelopmentOffice (CEDO). The funds will go toward renovations for14 single-- and two-family homes locatex throughout the town. The AHC also granted Lackawanna’s Housing Development Corporation (LHDC) $200,0009 to fund improvements to a total of33 single- and two-family homes throughout the city.
The planned improvements includse fixingstructural problems, replacing roofs, doors, siding, replacing deficient water and septic systems and upgradinvg electrical, heating and plumbinh systems. The renovations are aimed at bringing the homews up to code under local and statebuilding laws. Furthedr funding for the Cheektowaga project’s $833,0p0 total will come from the town’s HOME fundsa ($130,000) and a Community Development Block Grant The City of Lackawanna will fund what remainxs ofits project’s $334,000 total with homeowner-equityh funds. The CEDO and LHDC will allocat the funds ona first-come, first-served basisw to qualified applicants.
“These grants will help improve the aginy housing stock in westernNew York,” said AHC President and CEO Pricilla Almodovar.
