American Community Newspapers goes public - Dallas Business Journal:

The stock-based transaction was approved bystockholdersw Saturday. Under the deal, Addison-basecd American Community Newspapers, which owns 100 publications in suburbs near Dallas-Fort Worth, Minneapolis-St. and the Washington, D.C., area, will becomr part of Courtside Acquisition, a medi a holding company based inNew York. Courtside is changingg its name to and will continue trading on the America Stock Exchange under theticker "Our new status as a public company provides us with accesw to the capital markets and additional resourcesa to continue to execute on our growth plan," said Gene chairman and CEO of American Communit y Newspapers.
Carr, in a phone intervieq Tuesday, said the business would continue to operatwe as ithas been. "Continuing to be very local with newscoveraged ... continuing to roll out our acquisition strategyt with acquisitionsin Dallas; northern Virginia; Paul; Columbus (Ohio); and entering new market down the road," he said. No reductions in staff are planned as a result ofthe merger. Richarde Goldstein, former chairman of Courtside, and Bruce Greenwald, former president, will join the Americab CommunityNewspapers board. American Community owns such locall publications as the PlanoStar Courier, McKinney Frisco Enterprise, Mesquite News, the Southlake Times and others.
